Woman arrested, man flees on foot after attempt to steal shoes from Bealls

A woman with a history of shoplifting was arrested and her male companion fled on foot after a botched attempt to steal a pair of shoes Saturday at Bealls.

Desiree Kaye, 31, of Summerfield, and her male companion entered the store on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake, the man concealed a pair of men’s Nike shoes in her purse and they attempted to leave the store.

They were confronted by the store’s loss prevention agent. Kaye resisted the agent and the man attempted to punch the store employee. The man then fled on foot.

Used syringes were found in Kaye’s purse.

She was arrested on charges of shoplifting, battery, possession of drug equipment, and larceny and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $4,000.

She had been arrested last year in the parking lot of a bank in The Villages. You can read about that arrest HERE
