A 46-year-old Village of Glenbrook man and a Summerfield woman were arrested Sunday in the parking lot of a bank located on Parr Drive in The Villages.

John Anthony Vilardo, 46, and Desiree Kaye, 30, were spotted in a silver Chrysler Town and Country van with a suspicious tag and pulled over shortly before noon Sunday in the parking lot of Chase Bank on Parr Drive.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy discovered that Kaye was wanted on a Lake County warrant charging her with failure to appear. She was also in possession of a purse which contained hypodermic needles she said she used to inject drugs including methamphetamine.

Vilardo admitted he had been driving the van with a suspended license. A check of his license revealed multiple suspensions. Two hypodermic needles were also found under the passenger seat and Vilardo admitted he had used them for injecting drugs, according to the arrest report.

Both were arrested and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
