Woman ordered to appear in court after allegedly trying to steal shoes

A 30-year-old Summerfield woman will have to appear in court on May 4 to answer to a charge of retail theft.

Desiree Kaye on April 18 entered Kohl’s, took off her shoes, put on a pair of new shoes and put the old shoes in the shoebox, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She was stopped by a loss prevention officer as she attempted to leave the store.

Kaye was issued a notice to appear in Lake County Court. The shoes were valued at  $42.79.

Kaye had been convicted of retail theft in 2005.
