Steve Doocy of ‘Fox & Friends’ to join wife in cookbook signing in The Villages

Steve and Kathy Doocy will be at Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. to sign copies of their new book.

Fox News personality Steve Doocy and his wife, Kathy, are coming to The Villages.

The couple will be at Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. to sign copies of their new book titled, “The Happy Cookbook: A Celebration of the Food That Makes America Smile.” Doocy is one of the hosts of the network’s morning show “Fox & Friends” and is no stranger to The Villages, having broadcast live from Lake Sumter Landing in September 2011.

The Doocy’s new cookbook is being billed as “a collection of recipes and stories that celebrate comfort and inspire happiness all year round.” Steve calls Kathy, his wife of more than 30 years, “the best cook I’ve ever met.” Together, they enjoy cooking and entertaining family and friends.

In “The Happy Cookbook,” the Doocys share favorite recipes, stories and plenty of photos from their family life. And in addition to beloved family dishes, the full-color publication includes some favorite recipes from the likes of musician Kid Rock, golfer Greg Norman and others.

Some of the many recipes offered in “The Happy Cookbook” that are designed to inspire great breakfast, lunch and dinner meals include Steve’s Breakfast Smoothie, Eggs in a Nest, Roma Tomato Flatbread, Pimento Cheese Dip, Bacon Corn Chowder, Flaky Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Mamma Marie’s Meatballs, Kid Rock’s Mom’s Chicken Pot Pie, Ritz Cracker Breaded Pork Chop, Buffalo Chicken Calzone, Kathy’s Famous Sugar Cookies and Betty’s Bourbon Pumpkin Cheesecake.

On a recent episode of a segment titled “After the Show Show,” Doocy told his Fox colleagues that he and Kathy have been working on the cookbook for 30 years.
“One of the things about our family recipes is that the way your moms or families make things are different than everybody else,” he said. “And when you see it, you smell it and you taste it, it feels like home. So it’s all recipes that remind somebody of happier times.”

Steve Doocy joined the Fox News Channel in 1996 and started co-hosting the network’s morning show, ‘Fox & Friends,’ in 1998.

Doocy said a good example is a favorite dish that Kathy makes for him occasionally.

Brian Kilmeade

“When I go into our house in New Jersey on my birthday and I smell that my wife has been cooking the pot roast that my mom made for me 50 years ago, with the Lipton onion soup and the cream of mushroom soup, it just takes you back,” he said.

Doocy also shared a funny story about a meal he shared with Kathy before they were married.

“She made Engagement Lasagna,” he said. “I had no idea it would be Engagement Lasagna, but it was love at first bite.”

The Doocys’ cookbook hits bookstore shelves Oct. 2, meaning Villagers will be among the first to get signed copies of the book after it’s released. Barnes & Noble in The Villages is located at 1055 Old Camp Road in Lake Sumer Landing. Call (352) 430-3029 for more information.

Bret Baier

Doocy’s trip to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown puts him among many Fox personalities who have visited or will be coming here. His “Fox & Friends” co-host, Brian Kilmeade, has been to The Villages four times, the latest in December 2017 when he was signing copies of his book titled “Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America’s Destiny.”

Fox anchor Bret Baier, whose aunt, Kathy Scarito, lives in the Village of Sunset Pointe, drew quite a crowd in May when he signed copies of his new book titled “Three Days in Moscow: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of the Soviet Empire.” The host of “Special Report with Bret Baier” and chief political anchor for the Fox News Channel said it was great to speak with so many people who enjoy his work.

Greg Gutfeld

“It’s always a great turnout at this store,” he said, recalling a similar book signing last year that was coupled with him doing his television show from The Villages.

Greg Gutfeld, host of “The Greg Gutfeld Show” and co-host of “The Five,” will be at Barnes & Noble on Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. to sign copies of his latest work titled “The Gutfeld Monologues: Classic Rants From The Five.” Gutfeld also is no stranger to The Villages, having been here in April 2014 to sign copies of his book titled “Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War on You.”

Fox News political commentator Tucker Carlson will follow the Doocys into town with his book signing Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m. The host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” will be chatting with Villagers and signing copies of his new work titled “Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class Is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution.”

Tucker Carlson

Carlson, who gained a certain level of fame from appearing on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2006, also is no stranger to Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. He was here in April 2010 to appear on fellow Fox commentator Sean Hannity’s show, which originated from Lake Sumter Landing.

And while he’s not a Fox News personality, President Trump’s former White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, signed copies of his book, “The Briefing: Politics, the Press, and the President” this past Thursday. Spicer, who mingled and posed for photos with Villagers, said he wrote the book to “set the record straight” about Trump’s campaign and presidential victory.

Sean Spicer, who served as Trump’s press secretary for the first six months of his presidency, called his time in the White House ‘chaotic at times’ and ‘energetic and exciting.’
