The Lake County Property Appraiser’s Office has estimated that Hurricane Irma caused $26 million in property damage, in Lake County, not including flood-damaged Astor.

Of the $26 million in damage, $1.5 million is commercial.

Lake County suffered $1 million in damage last year in Hurricane Matthew.

Here in the Lake County section of The Villages, flooding was a problem.

Lady Lake police had to guide golf carts across U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when access to the golf cart bridge was blocked due to flooding.

Paradise Lake on the Historic Side had to be pumped out due to flooding. Months earlier the lake’s famous waterfall had stopped flowing due to drought.

Many homeowners on the Historic Side reported water that came up close to their doorsteps.

Paradise Park also flooded.
