A woman who was pumping gas into her vehicle was arrested for driving on a suspended license.
Amanda Carroll Burgess, 34, of Wildwood, had been pumping gas into her Ford utility vehicle at 1:17 a.m. Tuesday at the Circle K on Main Street in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy spotted Burgess as she was driving into the service station.
The same deputy had contact with Burgess six hours earlier while investigating a burglary in progress. The same Ford utility vehicle was at the scene and the deputy informed Burgess that her license was suspended.
“I advised the defendant her driving license was suspended, which she acknowledged and stated she would take care of the suspension at a later date,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report.
As she was being taken into custody after the second contact with the deputy, Burgess admitted she had $200 worth of methamphetamine tucked inside her bra. She also had a digital scale in her purse.
She was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $4,000.
