A 46-year-old man who lives with his mother in the Village of Tall Trees landed back behind bars after he called Sumter County sheriff’s deputies Monday to let them know a warrant had been issued for his arrest for overdue child support.

Devon Daily, who lives on Oak Bend Place, called the sheriff’s office at about 8 p.m. to report that a writ of bodily attachment had been issued out of Marion County.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Information in his Marion County court file indicates Daily’s child support woes date back to at least 2010.

Last year, Daily had been arrested when he was spotted after hours at the Chick-Fil-A drive-through in a golf cart. A Lady Lake police officer spotted the golf cart with its headlights on at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 17, 2016. Knowing it was after hours and the restaurant in the Rolling Acres shopping plaza was closed, the officer went to check on the golf cart. Daily told the officer he had been looking for a place to eat and did not realize the restaurant was closed, according to a report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Daily gave the officer permission to search the golf cart and marijuana was discovered.

In June 2015, Daily was cited by police for driving in his golf cart with an open beer, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. You can read about that incident HERE. He was already on probation at that time for breaking into his neighbor’s house and stealing his truck. You can read about that incident HERE.

Daily resides with his mother who purchased her home in The Villages in 2005.
