A 71-year-old home health care worker who did a good deed found that the woman who she tried to help stole jewelry, silverware and a Purple Heart from her home on the Historic Side of The Villages.
The victim, a registered nurse who lives on Lauren Lane, felt sorry for 61-year-old Nancy Miller who was a patient at The Villages Regional Hospital. Miller was going to require care after her discharge from the hospital and Miller didn’t appear to have anyone to step into that role.
So the nurse allowed Miller to stay with her in her home.
Sometime in June, Miller is believed to have stolen the items.
Miller has been lodged since July 1 at the Sumter County Detention Center. Miller, a cleaning lady, is accused of taking jewelry from a home in the Village of Lake Deaton. You can read more about that case HERE.
The nurse, who Villages-News.com is not naming because she is a victim, said the $1,200 bracelet that was stolen belonged to her. However, the silverware, some stone goblets, Purple Heart and a men’s watch valued at $3,500, belonged to a male home health care worker who had temporarily stored the items at her home. The Purple Heart had been awarded to the man’s relative.
Miller also left behind her dog. The dog is still staying with the nurse who is hoping to find a good home for the dog. She would prefer not to turn the dog over to a shelter.  The dog is a good-natured Norwich Terrier named Stewart. If interested, send us a message at and we will pass on your information.
