Village of Osceola Hills at Lake Deaton woman arrested with small, unbuckled child in her car

Stacey Lynn Walker

A Village of Osceola Hills at Lake Deaton woman was arrested Saturday night with small child in her car who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt or using any restraint.

Stacey Lynn Walker, 40, who lists an address on Zephyrhills Road, had been driving a gold Buick LeSabre at about 8:45 p.m. when she was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy investigating a shoplifting incident which occurred a short time earlier at Dollar General in Coleman.

During the traffic stop, Walker was combative with the deputy and would not obey commands to exit the vehicle. She was threatened with a taser and had to be forcibly removed from the car.

“During the altercation, I did observe a small child in the back seat who was not buckled in or in a car seat,” the deputy wrote in his report.

Walker denied taking anything from the store.

The store manager reported that Walker had taken $30 to $40 in merchandise and said the store would be pressing charges as Dollar General has a zero tolerance policy for theft. Witnesses in the parking lot took down the license plate number of the car Walker was driving.

She was taken into custody on charges of petit theft and resisting arrest.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,500 bond.

In 2014, Walker was arrested for driving on a suspended license. During the traffic stop, it was noted that she and a passenger were not wearing seatbelts.
