Work to take place at El Santiago pool after Villager speaks out at CDD meeting

Work will take place beginning this week at the El Santiago Family Pool after a Villager voiced concerns this past Friday at a Community Development District 2 meeting.

Villager Michele Grandusky spoke out about grout, a debris pile and scum on the pool’s walls.

She was told the pool was not under the authority of the CDD 2 Board of Supervisors, but apparently her voice was heard.

The District Office announced Tuesday a series of closures at the pool for work to be performed there.

They are:

• The pool will be closed for grout work on Thursday, Aug. 16. It will reopen on Friday, Aug. 17.

• The pool will close again Friday, Aug.  24 and Saturday, Aug. 25 for paver work.

•The El Santiago Lower Building will close at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 and will not reopen until Sunday, Aug. 26.

Grandusky, contacted Tuesday evening by Villages-News.com, said she was thrilled with the news.

She said that after the CDD 2 Board meeting when she returned to the pool, residents “bowed down” to her for taking a stand.
