Woman’s purse disappears after she leaves it in shopping cart at Wal-Mart in Ocala

A woman’s purse reportedly disappeared Sunday after she left it in a shopping cart at a Wal-Mart in Ocala.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to Wal-Mart located at 34 Bahia Ave. in reference to a theft, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with the victim and her husband, who told the deputy that they came to the store to shop around 2:15 p.m.  The couple was in the store for approximately 45 minutes before exiting and returning to their vehicle. The victim said they were driving down the road for about seven miles when she realized she did not have her purse, but remembered having while checking out at Wal-Mart. The couple extensively searched through their vehicle, but did not locate the purse. They then returned to Wal-Mart and searched the area where they had parked, but did not locate the purse. The victim said while she cannot remember exactly what happened, she believed she must have left the purse and its contents in the shopping cart, which had been placed aside after unloading their purchases into their vehicle.
