A woman who claimed she drank sweet tea at an Applebee’s was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence on Wednesday in Ocala.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted a gray Ford ahead of him that made a turn without coming to a complete stop at a red light. He conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 46-year-old Dawn Marie Sisteria Schroeder of Ocala.
The deputy could smell an odor of liquor coming from Schroeder’s breath and advised her eyes to be watery. Schroeder acknowledged that she ran through the red light and said she was coming from Applebee’s. When asked if she had been drinking, Schroeder stated she only had sweet tea. After failing field sobriety exercises, she was placed under arrest.
A computer check on Schroeder revealed that she was on active felony probation through 2020 for a burglary conviction.
Schroeder was transported to the Marion County Jail where she refused to provide a breath sample. Bond was set at $1,000.
