Woman, toddler found dead in Ocala National Forest in apparent murder-suicide

Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide incident in the Ocala National Forest.

Deputies responded to the area of Forest Road 88, approximately two miles north of East State Road 40 after receiving a call from a passerby that discovered the scene at 10:52 a.m. Saturday.

The Medical Examiner was on the scene of the apparent murder-suicide in the Ocala National Forest.

Deputies located an adult female and a toddler-aged female both dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Also at the scene was an adult male suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound but still alive. He was taken to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition at this time.

Detectives were not releasing the names of the victims pending next of kin notifications.
