A woman who stood up last year against a proposed Wawa has been appointed to a board in Lady Lake.
Nora Choquette became a prominent voice last year when the megachain announced plans to build a gas station and convenience store at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 466.
She was appointed Wednesday by the Lady Lake Commission to the town’s Parks, Recreation and Tree Advisory Committee.
Choquette, who works as a content specialist at Marion County Schools, wrote a piece about the price of progress last year which appeared in Villages-News.com.
