Woman sentenced in jealous outburst involving 89-year-old man in Amelia

Marion Laverne Plummer

A 71-year-old woman has been sentenced in the wake of a jealous outburst at the home of an 89-year-old man in the Village of Amelia.

Marion Laverne Plummer had been arrested Feb. 20 after she reportedly used a wooden kitchen chair to crash open the door to an office in the home, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office

She was enraged because an 89-year-old man and another woman had been working behind closed doors. Plummer said she felt disrespected because they had closed the door. The other woman was reportedly staying at the home.

Once Plummer broke into the room, the 89-year-old man attempted to grab her arms to stop her from attacking the other woman. Plummer scratched the man in an attempt to break free, the arrest report indicated.

She has been placed on probation for one year, according to Sumter County Court records.
