Woman not wearing seatbelt killed after vehicle overturns in Marion County

A 49-year-old woman who was not wearing a seatbelt was killed after a vehicle in which she had been riding as a passenger overturned in Marion County.

Lisa Douglas had been a passenger in a 1997 Honda Civic driven by 76-year-old Joseph McCullough of Reddick.

A 1998 GMC 2500 driven by 35-year-old Justin Moore of Ocala at 6:14 p.m. Thursday made a U-turn on U.S. Hwy. 441 when he turned into the path of McCullough’s vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. His vehicle overturned onto its roof and Douglas was ejected from the vehicle.

She was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville where she later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

McCullough suffered serious injuries. He was also transported to Shands Hospital.
