A woman was forced to knee a man in the groin in order to break free during an alleged attack Monday night in The Villages.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 8:49 p.m. to a home on Avecilla Drive in the Haciendas of Mission Hills where the woman said she had been “strangled, spit on, and grabbed unwantedly” by 65-year-old Robert J. Schaeffer, according to an arrest report.
Schaeffer “grabbed her by the throat and told her they were both going to die tonight,” the report said.
He allegedly tried to force the woman into a car and that is when she kneed him in the groin to break free.
She said she and Schaeffer had been arguing for the past eight weeks.
The Ohio native admitted he had put his hands around her neck, had tried to force the woman into the car and said they were both “going to die tonight.”
Schaeffer was arrested on felony charges of battery and kidnapping.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
