Woman dies of injuries suffered in crash after losing control of vehicle in Marion County

A 56-year-old woman was killed in a crash after losing control of her vehicle in Marion County.

Gerhea Saless Tabares of Dunnellon had been at the wheel of a 2004 Chevy Colorado at 6:50 p.m. Friday on U.S. 41 when it traveled from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Her vehicle collided with a 2015 Hyundai Elantra driven by 21-year-old Omesha Burton of Ocala.

Tabares was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where she later died of injuries suffered in the crash. She had not been wearing a seatbelt.

Burton suffered serious injuries and also was transported to ORMC.

Let them keep the fence!
