Woman jailed on drunk driving charge after near miss with motorcycle in The Villages

Roberta Ann Clark

A 66-year-old woman was jailed on a drunk driving charge after a near miss with a motorcycle in The Villages.

Roberta Ann Clark, of Ocala, was at the wheel of a white Jeep utility vehicle shortly before 11 p.m Friday at the intersection of Buena Vista Boulevard and County Road 466 when her vehicle nearly collided with a motorcycle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A traffic stop was initiated on Buena Vista Boulevard at Talley Ridge Drive.

A deputy asked Clark to take part in field sobriety exercises and noted that she was having a “hard time standing and was placing her hand on the vehicle for support,” the report said. She kicked off her shoes for the “walk and turn” exercise, but she stumbled. During the “one leg stand,” Clark complained that she has Graves’ Disease and was having a hard time standing. She later provided breath samples that registered .167 and .164 blood alcohol content.

A check revealed previous DUI convictions in 1997 in Tampa and in 1980 in Pasco County.

She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
