A 53-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Wildwood.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash at about 2:30 a.m. in the 900 block of NE 84th Place where a Chevrolet Cruize had collided with a fence. Tammy L. Eklund of Lakeland was identified as the driver and it appeared she had been drinking.

She failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample. She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and driving while license suspended and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.
