A woman was arrested after reportedly sliding through the self-checkout lane with stolen merchandise at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.

Valerie Lou Vandemark, 33, of Summerfield, entered the store Monday afternoon and selected merchandise, including Secret deodorant, Nexium 24-hour, Maybelline makeup powder, a pair of Faded Glory men’s pants and Gain Flings detergent pods, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

She went to the self-checkout lane where she only paid for a few of the items and then attempted to leave the store.

She was taken into custody on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $500 bond.
