Orthopedic surgeon and his Reggae band ready for show to benefit hospital auxiliary foundation

Dr. John Williams gives his all during a recent performance with his band, John Truth & Reflexx.

Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. John Williams will be taking off his white coat to perform a Bob Marley tribute with his band, John Truth & Reflexx, on Saturday at Savannah Center.

The concert, a benefit for The Villages Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation, was such a wild success last year that a bigger venue had to be found for this year’s show. The high-energy performance had people dancing wherever they could find a spot.

Williams, director of total joint replacement at Advanced Orthopedic Institute and chairman of surgery at Central Florida Health, has been performing as Bob Marley since his days in Philadelphia.

Williams relocated to Central Florida in 2011. The band, still based in Philadelphia, travels to Florida for the annual concert.

Williams, a life-long Bob Marley fan, always liked to sing and took up guitar at age 40. He is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist with the group.

Tickets to the Reggae concert are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Advance tickets are available at William’s office at Advanced Orthopedic Institute, located in the Sharon L. Morse Medical Building at 1400 N. U.S. Hwy. 27/441, Suite 552, or by calling (352) 751-2862 before 5 p.m. Tickets also will be available at the door of the concert. Payment method for tickets are cash or check only.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and a cash bar will be available. The Savannah Center is located at 1575 Buena Vista Blvd.
