William E. Brown Jr.

Mr. William E. Brown Jr., 89 of The Villages, formerly of Kyle, TX, passed away March 4, 2018. Born December 19, 1928 in York, PA., He was the son of late William E. Sr. and Romaine (Leader) Brown.

He graduated from West York High School, York, Pa. in 1947. He was involved in sports at West York High playing football, basketball and baseball. He traveled with the Y-Hi basketball league and was on many church softball teams and bowling leagues. He also enjoyed playing in the YMCA lunch time bad-mitted league.

Bill served with the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Perry a destroyer in the Atlantic Theater. During his service he met and married the love of his life Ann C. Muir whom, he met in Portsmouth England. They were married on September 1, 1951 in York, PA. They were happily married for 58 years. Ann passed away on November 7, 2009.

During their life’s journey they lived in many locations From York, Pa., Baltimore, Md., Pasadena Ca., Pittsburgh, Pa., Waynesboro, Pa., Eatonton, Ga. and The Villages, FL.

Before his retirement to The Villages, FL, Bill had been employed by U.S. Postal Service, Motters Chain/Cable, Frick Company, Owner of Frick Forest Products, Pacific Knife & Saw, Waynesboro Pipe Products and D.L. George & Sons Manufacturing Co. During his time at Frick Company in the sawmill division he developed two patents on the mechanical works of saw mills that are still being used today.

He was a past member of the Owls Club, Waynesboro Country Club, Tall Cedars York, Masonic Lodge and B.P.O.E. Elks Club 731.

Bill had a great passion for sports of all kinds and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports. He loved to play golf and met and played with many friends and colleagues over the years. He loved to watch college football especially U.S. Naval Academy, Penn State, Baltimore Colts and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by two children Alan Brown (Leigh) Austin, TX, Gail Seilhamer (Jim) Waynesboro, PA. Grandchildren Ian Seilhamer (Katie) Altoona, FL, Ashley (Seilhamer) Soverns (Sean), Fayetteville, PA, Brandon Brown, Austin, TX, Lindsey (Brown) Kilbourne (David), Austin, TX. Great-grandchildren Parker, Beau, Jase, Everlie Seilhamer and Marleigh Soverns. Sister Barbara (Brown) Everhart, Sisters-in Laws, Sally Brown, Pennie Bayliss and many nephews and a nieces. Also his close friend Martha Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Parents, Brother Barry Brown, nephews Gary Everhart and Jeffery Everhart.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Veterans Cemetery in Florida with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA, 17268.
