Will there be a new square …. Or a circle?
The answer is, at some point, the Village of Fenney will have all the amenities of The Villages as it develops north toward Brownwood. Jennifer Parr, part of The Morse family and director of sales, greeted guests as they came off the trolleys to tour the new Village, and gave assurances that as development continues, there will be music, restaurants, softball, nightly entertainment and championship golf and activities just as residents have become used to enjoying throughout The Villages. However, what that will look like is yet to be designed, just as there is no plan as of now for golf cart accessibility. Parr said there may be a square or a circle, no configuration has been decided on, for where music and dining will take place. Until further development, Brownwood will be the closest place to go to have entertainment and Lake Deaton for shopping. With 8,000 acres to be developed, 14,000 homes, and 20,000 people to date expressing interest to tour the Village of Fenney, another successful project is in its creation for The Morse family. There are over five miles of walking trails within The Village of Fenney, which is the first most southern village.
Fenney Recreation Center, nestled against a nature preserve, with a bar, grill and resort beach pool is slated to be open in early June, and The Spanish Moss Recreation Center will be open March 31. Grey Fox and Red Fox executive courses will be available to play in the fall. There will be golf cart rentals at Grey and Red Fox, $3 for 9 holes and $6 for 18 holes. At this time, there is no way to determine if there will be golf cart connectivity, and once the golf courses open, golfers will travel by car to play for now.
Several home sites and built homes have been sold. None of the furnished models are presently for sale. With patio villas, cottages and designer homes to choose from, prices ranged from in the $130,000 range for a patio villa, with higher prices with golf cart garages, a new feature for a patio villa. Designer homes go well into the $700,000 plus range for a 2,040-square foot home which included a $100,000 swimming pool, $25,000 summer kitchen, granite, upgraded stainless steel appliances, tile floor, and golf cart garage with a larger waterfront home site. There are less expensive homes to be purchased as well, without all the extra amenities, making them more affordable for those on a budget.
An 11-minute trolley ride from Brownwood takes you to The Village of Fenney. The entrance is plantation style with gorgeous Live Oaks and newly planted palm trees. It is well worth the ride and tour to see the future of The Villages developing its newest phase of lifestyle living. While it seems far away at this time, as it builds north, it should look very similar to the area from Brownwood to County Road 466A, which at one time was also thought to be a distance from the center of The Villages. Tours are the only available way to see homes in The Village of Fenney, or by appointment. At this time, it is not possible to drive in on one’s own and look around.
The tour gives you an eye to the future of The Villages, and it was pleasing to see that the detail, planning, and attention to continue offering seniors a retirement community with an extensive menu of options is still a priority in their expansion.
Aside from the purchase price, bonds on the homes range from $17,000 to $30,000. Additionally, there will be both Sumter County and Wildwood taxes.
