Wildwood woman begs not to be arrested in theft case at Wal-Mart in Summerfield

Tyler Marie McEntire

An unemployed Wildwood woman was arrested Thursday at the Summerfield Wal-Mart after allegedly trying to steal several items from the store’s sporting goods department.

Tyler Marie McEntire, 28, was arrested and charged with petit theft after one of the store’s loss prevention officers saw her stuffing several items inside a black-and-white-striped canvas bag, a Marion County Sheriff’s report states. A deputy confronted McEntire after she exited the store. She immediately turned and attempted to go back inside while telling the deputy she hadn’t paid for the items and pleading not to be taken to jail, the report says.

A search of McEntire’s bag revealed stolen merchandise valued at $146.27, the report says, adding that McEntire admitted stealing the items but promised to never return to Wal-Mart again if she was not charged.

While searching the bag, the deputy also found a small plastic baggie inside a multi-colored bag that McEntire admitted owning. Inside the baggie was a white powdery substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, the report says.

The deputy also found another zipped fabric bag containing three syringes, two spoons with white residue on them, a shoestring, a small blue tin that contained more plastic baggies with white powdery residue and another small plastic baggie that contained large, clear crystals that resembled methamphetamine, the report states.

The residue on the spoons tested positive for methamphetamine, but the field test on the crystals was inconclusive, the report says.

McEntire also was charged with possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Marion County Jail and held on a $4,000 bond.
