Wildwood police investigate woman’s claim of being hit by ex-husband’s pickup

Wildwood police investigated a woman’s claim of being struck by her ex-husband’s pickup at Lakeside Landings in Oxford.

Officers were called early Saturday morning to Lakeside Landings, where the 48-year-old woman said she had been struck by the pickup of her ex-husband, with whom she still resides.

She was transported by ambulance to a local medical facility.

The 53-year-old ex-husband said he had denied giving his truck keys to his ex-wife and he got into his truck to try to leave the scene and diffuse the situation, according to a report from the Wildwood Police Department. He said that his ex-wife followed him, stood in front of the Ford F-150 and pounded on the hood. He backed up several times in an attempt to drive around her. He drove several blocks away and parked the truck. He walked back to their home and saw his ex-wife talking to police and EMS.

Witnesses corroborated his version of events.

Police concluded that he did not strike her with the truck, but that she suffered injuries when she fell to the ground while pounding on the truck.

The report noted the woman had slurred speech.
