A well-known oyster bar in Wildwood has reopened after being shut down last week after failing a health inspection.
O’Shucks Oyster Bar & Grill at 1016 S. Main St. was shut down at 11:38 a.m. Jan. 19 after failing the inspection, according to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
According to the inspector’s report, five high-priority violations were documented.
The report said the dead roaches found in the restaurant’s kitchen were “too numerous to count.” The roaches were found under the refrigerators and under the cook’s line. A trap in the dry stockroom also had roaches that were “too numerous to count.”
Another high-priority violation found was raw fish that was being stored at 47 degrees rather than the required 41 degrees. In addition, raw chicken was being stored above ready-to-eat tuna.
The restaurant corrected the violations and was allowed to re-open the following day.
