Marion County sheriff’s deputies spotted 24-year-old Timothy Andrew Brown running and pushing a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle across the parking lot of Qwik King located at 16481 U.S. 301, according to an incident report. Deputies made contact with Brown, who claimed he was attempting to get the motorcycle started by jump starting it. After noticing the ignition had been punched out, deputies asked Brown if he had a driver’s license to which Brown stated he did not. Deputies provided dispatch with the motorcycle’s tag and were advised that the motorcycle was stolen out of Lake County on Feb. 23.

Brown was placed in hand restraints and advised deputies he borrowed the motorcycle, unaware it was stolen. Deputies found a fold fork, which Brown used to start the motorcycle, in his right front pocket. During the investigation, deputies received information that Brown left a black backpack in front of the gas pump at Qwik King. Brown denied that the backpack belonged to him.  After reviewing Qwik King’s video surveillance, deputies observed Brown wearing the backpack then placing it by the gas pumps. Brown admitted that it was his and advised he did not want to claim it because he believed there was a syringe inside of it.

Deputies asked Brown what the syringe was used for, in which Brown responded to “shoot up pills.” The owner of the motorcycle responded to the location and advised that the motorcycle had $4,000 in damages.

Brown was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail.
