Wildwood man arrested after allegedly attacking woman in front of her children

A Wildwood man was arrested after allegedly attacking a woman in front of her children.

Tabias Rydell James, 28, is facing a charge of battery following his arrest on New Year’s Day by Wildwood police.

He claimed he had “accidentally” hit his live-in girlfriend in the eye with his elbow, according to an arrest report. The police officer noted that the woman’s eye was completely swollen shut.

A witness told police that James had been waving his fist at the woman and physically restrained her arms behind her back. The witness also said the children “were screaming for their mother.”

James was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where he was initially behind held without bond.
