Wildwood commissioners Monday night approved a site plan for a 4,000-square-foot branch of Vystar Credit Union, the latest addition to Trailwinds Village on the north side of County Road 466A east of Pinellas Plaza.
The office plus about 30 parking spaces will be located close to the road, east of the Aldi Grocery Store. The site plan was recommended for approval by Special Magistrate Grant Watson at an October meeting of the Wildwood Planning and Zoning Board.
Vystar is the largest credit union in northeast Florida with more than 20 offices in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Gainesville and other cities. With assets of $6.8 billion, it serves 500,000 members in 22 Florida counties.
A 105,000-square-foot Lowe’s home improvement center opened last month at Trailwinds and Aldi and ABC Liquor stores are under construction.
Trailwinds has space for two more anchor stores and smaller retail stores along CR 466A. Ten small office buildings and a three-story, 247,000-square-foot storage building are planned for the west end of the property.
Commissioners also voted to give the Trailwinds development water credits for 58 additional homes in lieu of $63,642 the developer paid to fix sinkhole damage on city property. A sewage lift station was damaged and excessive water from Hurricane Irma was blamed for the sinkholes.
Earlier, the developer paid $1.8 million to bring sewer lines to the site from Wildwood’s water treatment plant in exchange for water credits.
The additional homes bring the total to 354, planned for the northeastern part of the site in a subdivision called the Village of Sumter. When completed, Trailwinds also will have 572,750 square feet of retail space and 151,500 square feet of office space.
