Violet Newell Lockwood, of Leesburg, FL, died on September 2, 2017 at the age of 84. Violet, or “Vi” as she was affectionately called, was born in Tampico, Mexico on June 8, 1933 to her late parents Hugo and Tula Newell.

Vi had the opportunity to spend much of her childhood and adult life traveling the world living a unique, rewarding, and colorful life.

During her time as an international flight attendant for Pan American Airways, Vi met her late husband, Franklin J. Lockwood, in Vienna, Austria. They married in 1955 and shared a loving and devoted marriage for 45 years. During the course of their marriage the couple gave birth to 3 children: Carol, Jean, and Jim.

Vi had a passion for the arts and was a talented singer, dancer, teacher, and theatrical performer throughout her life. She was caring, strong, and independent. Her affable demeanor, compassion towards others, and loving nature brought people in her life much comfort, joy, laughter, and guidance.

Vi will always be missed and loved by her surviving children: Carol Gaylor, Jean Lambert, and Jim Lockwood; her son-in-law, Craig Gaylor; and grandogs, Kota, Monkey, and Gibson.

In keeping with Vi’s wishes, her service and internment will be private.

A special thanks to Lake Port Square and Beyers Funeral Home.
