Villages twirling teams big winners at Twirl Mania at Walt Disney World

Villages twirling group cleaned up at Twirl Mania at Disney World this weekend.

The Villages Twirlers performance team won awards in the categories of Dance Twirl, Half Time and Parade Performance.

Meanwhile, the Prime Time Twirlers, also of the The Villages, took first place in the Dance Twirl competition.

“We haven’t come down yet. We are so excited,” said Elin Jones of the Prime Time Twirlers.

In addition, Jones won individual medals for Senior Solo Military Strut. Both of those were fourth place finishes.

Kathy Kendall of the Village of Hadley performed a solo twirling routine and placed 1st out of a group of eight women in a category of ages 45 years and olde

Twirl Mania is an international championship competition for soloists, teams, corps, high schools, universities and recreational groups in the athletic arena of baton twirling, auxiliary units, pompon and dance.

The event draws competitors and fans from all over the world.
