Villages officials render decision on fence aimed at keeping out golf carts, dogs

The Project Wide Advisory Committee has rendered a decision on a Villager’s request for a fence to prevent dog owners from gathering in their golf carts near his home.

PWAC voted unanimously Monday morning to spend nearly $5,000 on the fence at a three-acre parcel adjacent to the multi-modal path off Morse Boulevard south of County Road 466A.

Marvin Rosser, who lives at 3642 Enterprise Drive, pleaded with PWAC in February, and said he can’t even sit on his lanai due to noise from uninvited Villagers with their dogs.

A golf cart is parked on a three-acre parcel off Morse Boulevard south of County Road 466A where a fence will be constructed.

PWAC member and Community Development District 10 Supervisor Don Wiley said he passes by the site several times a week

“It’s a problem. I see dogs running loose. It’s unsightly for the dog park it’s become,” he said.

Wiley pointed out The Villages has several dog parks, including a new one about to open in the Village of Fenney.

“It’s a small amount of money in the grand scheme of our budget,” Wiley said.

Rosser expressed his appreciation to PWAC members after the vote.

The new fence comes at a time when The Villages’ longtime fence provider has begged out of a three-year contract due to a steep increase from his supplier.

PWAC members considered a range of possible solutions, including parking spaces as was recently agreed to by the Amenity Authority Committee at an adhoc dog park near The Villages Regional Hospital.
