One of the best things on Demshar’s menu is the prime rib according to owner Dennis Demshar; one of the best things about the grand opening of this Spanish Spring’s restaurant on Wednesday afternoon was the entertainment provided by Norman Lee.

He had people singing and dancing, led a conga line through the kitchen and jumped up on the bar to belt out a few tunes.

The group, including 50 members of Red Sox Nation,  assembled for the grand opening had a great time.

Red Sox Nation members Bob Caprio and Maureen Wilkinson said they enjoy Demshar’s especially on holidays when they do a special menu.

“We came here for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day,” said Wilkinson, “and we look forward to coming even more now that things are quieter and the wait to get in won’t be so long.” Demshar’s opened in January.

“We held off on the grand opening until we felt like we had everything just right,” said Demshar.

Jean Schmiedeknecht chose to combine celebrating her 80th birthday with the grand opening. She had been to Demshar’s once before and really liked the food. She looks forward to becoming more of a regular.

Schmiedeknecht, partying with her husband Wayne and good friends Lola Schnabel and Charlie Eaton, didn’t miss a chance to dance with Norman Lee and was one of the leaders of the Conga line.

Opening this restaurant has been a long time dream of Demshar and his wife Edie. Demshar was in the restaurant business for 30 years and owned “a bunch of Honey Baked Hams” including the one in Lady Lake which he just sold.

“Our dream was a full-service restaurant, what I call upscale casual,” said Edie. “A place where people can come in for a special dinner but be comfortable.”

In addition to the prime rib, their best sellers are the potato-crusted salmon and Executive Chef Danny O’Connor’s pasta dishes.

Open daily they have happy hour all day, every day and a pet-friendly patio.

“We hope when people come here dinner, they feel like they have been to our home,” said Demshar.

The couple resides in the Village of Harmeswood of Belle Aire.
