Villages couple’s golf cart stolen within hours of family’s arrival from Orlando airport

A new golf cart owned by a couple who recently moved to The Villages was stolen when family came to visit.

James and Patricia Summy moved June 1 to the Village of Calumet Grove from the Washington D.C. area.

They were excited when their son, daughter-in-law and 7-year-old granddaughter came to visit Dec. 28 from California.

The trio caught the shuttle from the Orlando International Airport and checked into the Comfort Suites on Avenida Central in The Villages. The Summys had taken their 2017 Yamaha golf cart to the hotel, since their visitors would need to rely on it for transportation during their stay.

The entire group climbed into the Summy’s automobile and headed over to Amerikanos Grille in Spanish Springs Town Square.

When they returned to the hotel, their golf cart had vanished.

“It was only a matter of hours and it was gone,” said James Summy.

The Summys ended up renting a golf cart for their visitors.

The Summys’ golf cart is sandstone with green and tan curtains and seat. “Jim” and “Pat” are etched on the front of the golf cart.

Jim and Patricia Summy bought this 2017 Yamaha golf cart after moving to The Villages.

If you have information about the possible whereabouts of the Summys’ golf cart, contact the Lady Lake Police Department at 751-1560.
