Villages construction official wins appointment by Gov. Rick Scott to LSSC seat

Gov. Rick Scott has appointed a construction manager for The Villages to a seat on the Lake-Sumter State College District Board of Trustees.

Bryn Blaise, construction manager for Villages Commercial Property Management, has been appointed to serve a term that runs through May 31, 2019. He is married to Lindsey Blaise, president of Citizens First Bank. She is the daughter of Villages Vice President Tracey Mathews and granddaughter of the late H. Gary Morse.

Villager Marcia Butler has been reappointed for a term beginning Jan. 5, 2018, and ending May 31, 2021. She is married to Sumter County Commissioner Al Butler and they reside in the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.

Also reappointed to the board are:

• Bret Jones, of Clermont, the principal attorney and owner of the Law Offices of Bret Jones, P.A. His terms runs through May 31, 2021.

• Tim Morris, of Leesburg, vice president of Ernie Morris Enterprises, Inc. His term runs through May 31, 2021.

The governor appoints five citizens from Lake County and four from Sumter County to four-year terms. The District Board meets monthly and meeting details are available at lssc.edu/publicmeetings.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
