Michael James Maffia

Michael James Maffia, 29, was arrested Nov. 30 after his father escaped the home and reported the incident to Sumter County sheriff’s deputies. Maffia, who also had been arrested for domestic battery in 2012, has been free on bond after the Village of Summerhill incident. The arrest report said holes had been punched in nearly every wall of the house.

This past Sunday a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn Express was preparing to clean Room 307 when she noticed holes had been punched in the walls of the room. There was also damage to the shower, television, air conditioning control panel and nightstand.

Maffia had stayed two nights at the hotel before checking out.

Police were able to contact his father who indicated he had kicked Maffia out, but was paying for him to stay at various local hotels. He agreed to pay for the estimated $1,100 damage to the room with his credit card already on file.
