Villagers fill Spanish Springs for annual St. Patrick’s Day parade

Villagers, their guest and grandchildren filled Spanish Springs Town Square on Friday to watch the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Most of the crowd wore green and some actually consumed green beer.

The parade route circled the square and came up Main Street. More than 100 decorated golf carts were interspersed with marchers all sporting green. Several Irish clubs were represented from all of The Villages. The University of Norte Dame Club of The Villages had several marchers as well as a number of decorated golf carts.

The Dynamic Dog Club had a dozen of their four-footed friends decked out in green togs to the delight of the crowd.

The Wildwood High School marching band played Irish tunes as they marched. The Villagers Twirlers and Drum Corp performed their routines as did the Villages Cheerleaders. The Primetime Twirlers sported Kelly green outfits as they twirled their batons.

Laura and Anthony Utzie dressed their pups, Charley and Baley, for the parade.

Villagers Anthony Utzie and his wife, Laura had dressed their dogs, Charley and Bailey, in green outfits for the parade. They joined several other costumed pooches for the parade.
