Villagers fill Brownwood for final tree-lighting ceremony

Thousands of Villagers lined the streets around and inside Brownwood’s Paddock Square for the third and final tree-lighting ceremony in The Villages.

Watch our video recap of this year’s tree-lighting at Brownwood:

The night featured live entertainment from local favorites MPiRE and performances from multiple Villages groups, including the Villages Cheerleaders and the Villagers Twirlers and Drum Corps.

Santa was on hand to listen to gift wishlists from children and Villagers of all ages.

The night was emceed by Billie Thatcher, who sang the all-too familiar list of holiday songs in anticipation of the tree-lighting finale.

In the moments leading up to the tree-lighting, Thatcher led the audience in a candlelight sing-a-long, while all the groups who participated in the ceremonies lined the corners of the dance-floor.
