Villagers can gather information about emergency preparedness at event Monday

Staying Alive: Everyday & Emergency Preparedness in The Villages is the topic for an event being presented by the Villages Homeowners Advocates (VHA) on Monday, June 18 at the Paradise Recreation Center. Representatives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Community Watch, Lake Emergency Management and The Villages Public Safety Department will give brief presentations outlining the many free programs that are in place to help keep people safe and to help them prepare for emergencies before they happen.

The presentations will include information about the Vial of Life Program, Scent Kits, Lock Boxes, Resident out-of-area House Check, Alert Lake, Smart 911, fire alarm battery replacement, weather radio set-up and the AED program.

An opportunity for residents to ask questions will follow the presentations. Officers from the Lady Lake Police Department, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Sumter Emergency Management also will be in attendance to participate in the Q&A. Resource handouts and samples will be available at the information display tables.

A large attendance is expected for this free program. The program, which is being held in the lower level of the Paradise Recreation Center in the Judy Garland Room, starts at 2:30 p.m.; early arrival is recommended to get a seat. A Villages resident ID or Guest ID is required for entry. Paradise Recreation Center is located at 1403 Paradise Drive. For additional information or questions contact the VHA office at (352) 753-4650.
