Residents packed a Community Development District 10 Board of Supervisors on Thursday afternoon, trying to stop construction of a fence in a green space in The Villages.
The Project Wide Advisory Committee in March voted to put up the fence after hearing from Marvin Rosser, who lives at 3642 Enterprise Drive. He said he can’t even sit on his lanai due to noise from uninvited Villagers with their dogs. After hearing from Rosser, PWAC voted unanimously to spend nearly $5,000 on the fence at the three-acre parcel adjacent to the multi-modal path off Morse Boulevard south of County Road 466A.
The fence is on hold, because The Villages is looking for a new fencing contractor. The Villages’ longtime fence provider has begged out of a three-year contract due to a steep increase from his supplier.
“Please do not fence us out,” said Marilyn Iskra of the Village of Osceola Hills Soaring Eagle.
She said that contrary to what has been said, dog owners pick up after their pets. And she took issue with the notion that there was structured socializing at the location between dogs and owners.
“There is no happy hour,” she said.
Fellow residents expressed concern that their money was being used to bar access to the property to satisfy a single homeowner.
“They saw what surrounded them when they purchased their house,” Iskra said.
They also challenged the idea that grass had been damaged at the location.
The residents were told the CDD 10 meeting was not the forum for their complaints.
They were directed to the May 14 PWAC meeting.
