Villager tracked down after car hits golf carts parked at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square

A Villager has been tracked down after the car she was driving hit two golf carts parked at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.

Drue Veydt, 73, of the Village of Belvedere, was interviewed at her home at 2828 Manor Downs by the Florida Highway Patrol. She has been ticketed on charges of leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving.

A Florida Highway Patrol investigator was at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square on May 7 after two golf carts were damaged in a collision.

She had been at the wheel of a 2018 Hyundai Genesis at 8:12 p.m. May 7 heading eastbound on Lakeshore Drive west of Canal Street when her vehicle struck a parked Street Rod golf cart owned by Kevin Edgar Paulter of the Village of Heathrow at Lake Deaton Preserve, according to an accident report from FHP. That golf cart was pushed into a 2017 Yamaha golf cart owned by Anthony Louis Utzie of Villa Berea. Both golf carts were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Veydt told an investigator she “didn’t know what happened.”

When FHP arrived at her home, they found the vehicle had damage to the front end.
