Villager sentenced to anger management after battle with live-in man friend over politics

Lynn Carol Yetman

A Villager has been sentenced to eight hours of anger management training after an altercation with her live-in man friend over differing political views.

Lynn Carol Yetman, 67, was arrested after Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 27 to the couple’s home in the Village of Tierra Del Sol South.

Yetman told deputies that she and the man have “completely different political views” and when he starts to talk about his views, she “tunes him out,” according to the arrest report. A check of Yetman’s Facebook page shows that she is anti-Trump, has chided Gov. Rick Scott over red tide and has praised former President Obama.

Yetman said her man friend “had a few drinks and started talking about politics.” The New Jersey native said she left to go have dinner with friends. When she returned, her garage door opener and the garage’s entry keypad would not work. She went to knock on the door and after a five-minute wait, the man opened the door. He “made some remarks about her being unfaithful” and she reached in and slapped him twice in the face. She then walked out onto the lanai “hoping” the man would go to bed. About 10 minutes later, she attempted to re-enter the home, but found it was locked. She dialed 911.

The man said he was not aware that law enforcement had been called. He told deputies he believed Yetman was mad at him because he would not go out dancing with her.

She was arrested on a charge of battery.

Earlier this month in Sumter County Court, Yetman entered into a pre-trial intervention contract. If she completes the terms of the deal, the case will be dropped.

In addition to anger management training, she will have to pay a $100 fine, perform 10 hours of community service and have “no violent contact” with her man friend.

According to the Sumter County Property Appraiser’s office, Yetman and her man friend purchased their Designer home in The Villages in January for $319,900.
