A 62-year-old Villager has been sentenced after drinking wine and then causing a scene at her boyfriend’s home earlier this year.
Elizabeth A. Demo, who lives in the Phillips Villas in the Village of Woodbury, was arrested Jan. 10 after her boyfriend reported that she was at his home on Hampton Lane in the Village of Belle Aire “causing problems,” according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy arrived on the scene and was told that Demo left in a grey Mazda Miata. The boyfriend said she had been drinking and shouldn’t be driving.
The deputy located the vehicle and asked Demo if she had been drinking. She said she had consumed two glasses of wine at Bonefish Grill, the arrest report indicated. She failed field sobriety exercises and was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
Earlier this month in Sumter County Court, Demo pleaded no contest to the DUI charge.
She will lose her driver’s license for six months, has been placed on probation for one year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
