Villager arrested in theft of construction materials at the Village of Fenney

A Villager has been arrested in the theft of construction materials at the Village of Fenney.

Michael P. Jacobs, 63, of the Village of LaBelle, had been spotted shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday on Graham Court loading wood into his 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

The Indiana native admitted to police that he had attempted to steal the construction materials. The wood was valued at $250.

He was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
