Villager arrested after smuggling liquor into movie theater at Lake Sumter Landing

Charles John Yahnke

A Villager was arrested after smuggling liquor into a movie theater at Lake Sumter Landing.

Charles John Yahnke, 52, of the Village of Glenbrook, went to the Old Mill Playhouse at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A theater manager later found Yahnke sleeping in the movie theater after the movie had ended. The manager had trouble rousing Yahnke and persuading him to leave. Yahnke finally left, but failed to take his backpack with him. The manager looked in the backpack and found it full of liquor bottles. The manager walked outside and found Yahnke sleeping on a bench outside the theater.

Deputies were called to the theater at 3:30 p.m. and found Yahnke who “could hardly keep his balance due to being intoxicated,” according to the arrest report.

Yahnke used profanity when deputies approached him and would not cooperate with them when he was being handcuffed.

Yahnke was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,500 bond.

Yahnke was arrested this past November after he fell off his bicycle and cursed at a Community Watch driver who tried to come to his aid.
