A Village of Bonnybrook man was arrested after allegedly using bug spray on his neighbors and four law enforcement officers.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at about 6 p.m. Friday to a home on Culpepper way after 53-year-old Brian Gregory Anderson approached his neighbor, forcibly removed his eyeglasses and tried to spray him in the face, according to an arrest report. The neighbor’s wife came out and Anderson tried to spray her in the face, but she was able to get her hands up to protect herself.
The couple later told deputies they have been locked in an ongoing dispute with Anderson.
When deputies arrived on the scene, Anderson disregarded their commands and kept walking away. He retreated to his home and tried to close a door to keep the deputies from making contact with him. As a deputy attempted to keep the door open, Anderson sprayed him and three other deputies in the face.
As they tried to place Anderson in handcuffs, he pulled away and kicked at them. He was arrested on multiple charges of battery and one count of resisting arrest.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
He was released after posting $27,000.
