Villager airlifted from scene of accident on County Road 42

A Villager was airlifted from the scene of an accident Sunday night on County Road 42 in Marion County.

Daniel Grayson, 48, suffered critical injuries in the crash which occurred at 10:40 p.m. He was flown to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

He had been at the wheel of a 2001 Ford F-150 which left the roadway, struck a fence and overturned after nearly colliding with a 2006 Pontiac driven by 27-year-old Abigail Kurwood of Umatilla, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. She and four passengers in her vehicle escaped injury.

Grayson had failed to slow down for Kurwood’s vehicle and took evasive action to avoid a rear-end collision.

Grayson had not been wearing a seatbelt, the report noted.
