Village of Tall Trees man arrested with weed

A Village of Tall Trees man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Allen Benjamin Sparks, 43, was found at about 3 p.m. sitting behind a tree on County Road 472 near Amazing Grace Church in Oxford, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies had been canvassing the area, looking for a man who fled a traffic stop.

When a deputy made contact with Sparks, he was found to be in possession of a small wooden box that contained marijuana as well as a metal pipe with marijuana residue on it.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
