Village of Silver Lake woman reports more than $2,000 in fraudulent activity

A 73-year-old Village of Silver Lake woman reported more than $2,000 of fraudulent activity in her name.

The woman went to the Lady Lake Police Department on April 25 and reported she had received an email indicating someone had opened an Amazon account in her name and purchased $600 in gift cards and a $1,413 iPhone.

She contacted Amazon and learned the account had been opened in her name without her consent. The charges were reversed and she did not lose any money.
